How to Sell

HOW TO SELL THROUGH GEAR ON LINE:

CHOOSE FROM THE TWO FOLLOWING TWO OPTIONS:-

GEAR ON LINE COMMISSION OPTION

Make a list of the gear you want to sell. [The item minimum is Ł100] - age condition etc

Decide on a price which will suit the market, but cover your expenses . Your expenses will be

a] shipping the gear to Gear on Line for checking when we have found you a buyer

b] our 10% commission on the final selling price

Fax or email the list to us: alison@gearonline.co.uk with jpegs if you can

Tell us whether you are registered for VAT for this transaction

We will contact you to advise you of your unique supplier reference and ask you to check your entry

We will contact you again when we have found a buyer and ask you to send the gear to us, [at your expense], together with an invoice for the selling price less our 10% commission.

As soon as the gear has been checked, [we’ve found that 99% of gear is fine], we send you a cheque in settlement.

All transactions are in Ł sterling

Items must be properly packed. Damaged items will sadly have to be returned at your expense. Helpful packaging guidelines can be accessed at www.gearonline.co.uk – PLEASE SEE BELOW!

GEAR ON LINE INTRODUCTIONS

This service is aimed at UK and non-UK sellers who wish to make their own shipping and payment arrangements

Gear on Line forward your details to the enquirer so that they can get in touch with you directly. You pay no commission - just a small monthly fee.

Make a list of the gear you want to sell. [There is no item minimum]. Tell us about age condition etc

Calculate the monthly cost which is subject to VAT [unless you are outside the EU or in the EU and have a valid VAT [AVT] number].
For up to 10 items the charge is Ł20 a month. For each additional 10 items or part thereof - Ł15 a month
Example: if your list has 18 items – the cost will be Ł35 a month . Ł20 for the first 10 - and Ł15 for the remaining 8 items.
Fax or email the list to us: alison@gearonline.co.uk with jpegs if you can but most importantly – your email, fax and telephone number so that we can forward enquiries to you
Fax through your credit or debit card details and invoicing address [There is a 3% surcharge for use of credit cards] [FAX No + 44 [0]117 9240400]
Your list will be automatically re-entered each month saving you having to constantly re-submit the list
You will be sent an invoice each month
You can terminate the service at any time [within 48 hours of your monthly commencement date] without charge
It is the responsibility of the seller to advise Gear on Line when an item has been sold

RESPONDING TO A WANTED ADVERTISEMENT

Email or call with details of the item you have that is being advertised on the Wanted list. We need make, model number, cosmetic and working condition, age, and whether it has a manual and its original box with it. All faults must be disclosed.

How much do you want for it? If you don’t say – the buyer will make a low offer.

[Europe only] Are you registered for VAT for this transaction?

Like all other Gear on Line transactions, we must have the item in Bristol, UK, at the seller’s expense, for inspection to check it meets its description and functions as it should, before making settlement of your invoice.

IF YOU ARE BUYING OR SELLING

Payment must have cleared before shipment takes place [commission option]
An item described as "needs attention" will not be in working order
Whilst every effort is made to check that equipment sold is in working order [commission option] – we cannot guarantee that this is the case. Gear On Line cannot refund any purchases made through a brokered transaction unless the seller agrees.
Gear on Line is not responsible for any issue arising from sales and purchases using Gear on Line Introductions

ALL MAIN CREDIT AND DEBIT CARDS ACCEPTED

Credit cards attract a surcharge of 3%

Where payment is made by Bank Transfer – this must be done covering all charges in Łsterling [GBP]

The gear listed above consists of stock and commission items which will often be subject to VAT for European purchasers

Only certain suppliers and stock items have a 3 month warranty – those referenced 10001 and 20046, unless otherwise advised at time of sale

Prices shown do not include shipping and tax

The legal title of all goods purchased shall only pass to the customer once Gear on Line has received payment in full.

Gear on Line is not liable to compensate the customer or any third party for delays in completion of their order, delays in transit or any consequential loss however caused. Any faulty goods must be returned in their original condition and packaging. Gear on Line does not undertake to reimburse carriage costs incurred by returning goods and reserves the right to repair or replace any such items at its discretion.

If damage to goods is apparent or suspected at point of delivery, the carrier’s signature request must be marked clearly and the customer must advise Gear on Line within 3 working days of receipt. For goods that have been damaged without obvious detriment to packaging – the customer must open and check deliveries on receipt and Gear on Line must be advised within 5 working days date of delivery. For this reason we suggest all carrier’s signature requests should be marked "unchecked"

PACKING GUIDELINES

Please take time to read this section.

All items MUST be properly packaged. Use the original packaging if you still have it, otherwise follow these simple guidelines. Sadly, any items sent to us that are damaged in transit will be immediately returned:

Wow! What hairy arms you've got! Pay peanuts, get monkeys!
Use BUBBLEWRAP with the bubbles facing inwards. Ensure that the wrapping is securely taped and that the item cannot slip out of it. Put extra Bubblewrap around rack ears and over protruding knobs and switches.

Get on with it! Don't be so stuck up!
Use a strong container with a reasonable clearance all around the item. It must NOT be in contact with the container wall. Use FLOWPACK or a similar resilient packaging material to form a cushion around the item, taking care to fill all the spaces between it and container completely. DO NOT USE BROKEN UP PIECES OF POLYSTYRENE NOR NEWSPAPERS. Seal securely with packing tape. Seal all edges so that none of the Flowpack (or similar) can escape.

Finally, fix a clearly printed address label, include on it your name and address and, MOST IMPORTANTLY, mark on it the words, "ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT. HANDLE WITH CARE." If you want you can now go directly to our ADDRESS LABEL page. There you can print out a ready prepared label. Use the browser's BACK navigation button to return. You may have to adjust the font sizes depending on how your browser is set up. There! we have done it for you! Aren't we are such nice people!

PLEASE!!! pay particular attention to rack mounted units and ensure that there is adequate clearance ALL AROUND. Make sure that the rack ears DO NOT make contact with the outside packaging. They will get bent in transit, and unfortunately, we will have to reject all units so damaged.

DON'T use flimsy and weak boxes. Otherwise your shipments may get out and try to walk!
